What is a union

Unions are workers who stand together to bargain with their bosses for better pay, safer working conditions and decent benefits. When workers stand together, we have the power. And that power makes the American dream possible for everyone.

As union membership decreases, middle-class income shrinks. Big corporations and Wall Street bankers are dismantling the American dream by outsourcing our jobs, slashing wages and eliminating retirement just to get bigger bonuses for themselves. Today, the only thing that stands in their way is the working people standing together.

Who needs unions?

We all do. Corporate CEOs have gotten rich by negotiating multimillion dollar pay packages for themselves while not allowing workers to negotiate a living wage for families. Unions even the playing field for all workers by standing up to big corporations and fighting for laws that protect everyone.

Vote smarter so you don’t have to work harder

The Fight for $15

Economists agree that in keeping up with worker productivity the current minimum wage should be at least $22.00 an hour. Currently, the Federal minimum wage is $7.25 (it has not increased since 2009) California’s minimum wage is $11.00 in 2018. We will have to wait to January 1, 2022 to get paid $15 an hour. Americans are working harder than ever with ever decreasing paychecks. The United States, wealthiest of all nations, should care for all citizens’, wealthy, middle-class, and those below the poverty line.

I am reminded of the saying,

"Work smarter so you don’t have to work harder”.

The people of District 42 should,

“VOTE smarter so they don’t have to work harder”.
